First travel blog

so the trip has been the best of times and the worst of times.

the best: Easter with Dell family in Wales filled with walks in the hills and by the sea, great conversations, good meals, and an Easter egg hunt and a ridiculous amount of laughter. best quote..."Oh my God, you have small hands," said when I was asked to pass a dish at the dinner table. Also best, running along shores of Dingle Peninsula. A picture of Dave laying in grass near the Big Sur of Ireland does no justice (if you have trouble finding him, he's a small blue speck)

the worst: about a month of emotional flatlining, being called spock by my girlfriend and friend after watching Star Trek, nearly ruining things with Sam, which has been a catalyst for some more positive thinking and focus. Who knew a talk with a Tony Robbins associated coach could be so helpful. Now I'm learning that slowing down is a good thing. for some reason this is so damn hard for me. although i don't know the full song, the awful country chorus keeps running through my head, "i'm in a hurry to get things done, oh I, rush and rush until life's no fun." by this point my plan was to have been through 5 countries by now.

as of now, i plan to spend nearly 3 months in UK + Ireland, 2 months of it in a sort of monastery in the English countryside called L'abri. Part of me greatly looks forward to it, and part of me hates the idea of the opportunity cost. But today I woke up and thought, F&@*, opportunity cost of rushing is missing out on truly enjoying the intricacies of life. So, now I need a new song to run through my head. any suggestions?
